OCTOBER

October is a busy month! In the month of October we observe bully prevention month and Red Ribbon Week. This month hosted a bully poster contest and we are working on a school wide banner of Duck Tape to show that we "Stick Together" against bullying. All classroom lessons provided by the counselor this month are focused on educating our students on exactly what bullying is. We want our students to be knowledgeable about bullying, what it looks like, how to handle it if they see it and consequences for bullying behavior.

I know that parents often are concerned about bullying behaviors but here at Langford, we want our parents to know that we are committed to keeping students safe and listening to student concerns. If you have any concerns or would like to speak to the counselor, please feel free to call the school and ask for me or you can dial my extension directly.

Parents also ask "How can I help? How can I prevent bullying?" Talk to your child about what they are learning at school about bullying. Have open communication about bullying and one of the absolute BEST things that parents can do to prevent bullying is to model positive interactions with others. We know that student are very observant and will often imitate what they see. If we are modeling positive behaviors, we are setting a great example for them to follow!
