The month of February is a one that is full of exciting events here at Langford! First our Mindset of the month is - Passion First. This Mindset provides students with the opportunity to think about the things that they are passionate about and how they feel when they are pursuing those things. For our fifth grade students that are pursuing Magnet programs for middle school, these students will have their virtual interviews this month! Fifth grade students have been working on their middle school transition lessons since November and we know that our Langford Labs are going to shine BRIGHT!! Supporting our Passion First mindset at home can be a lot of fun this month. Have conversations with your student about the things that they enjoy doing, then dig deeper and ask "why" they enjoy these things. 

The first week in February is National School Counseling Week! During this week, we take time to consider the impact that School Counselors make within our schools. Students will participate in daily trivia questions and daily challenges that they can respond to in the Counselor Class Google classroom. The schedule for the week is listed below. 


Monday- 2/1-Make a New Friend Monday (talk to someone new today)

Tuesday- 2/2- Tell me About It Tuesday (Tell me one thing that you have learned from your school counselor)

Wednesday- 2/3- What's It Wednesday (What does a school counselor do)?

Thursday- 2/4- Throwback Thursday (share one way that your school counselor has helped you)

Friday-2/5- Future Friday (wear your college gear and jeans)

This month has come with a load of changes for us here within the district. Please know that even though are schools are closed, your school counselor is still available to our students and their families. This is a time that may feel really strange to our students as they are accustomed to being inside of our building weekly. I am available via email and will do my best to reply to them to address your needs. As things continue to develop and change, as parents you can support and reinforce what we were working on at school with our Mindset of being 100% accountable. Some students were already provided this lesson and discussed ways and ideas that they can be accountable at home and at school. In the month of December we focused on the mindset of Live to Give! Student explored what that truly means. Students were encouraged to think of things to give that were not available in stores but things that come straight from the heart. When we return in January, we will revisit our mindset of being connected. This will serve as a reminder to our students that we are a family here at Langford and we are ALL connected. With that being said, your school counselor wishes   all of our Langford families a very safe and happy holiday season!

WELCOME BACK!!!

🐾Welcome back Langford students and parents! 🐾 We have missed each and everyone of you! We are excited to start our school year. It may be a little different than we are used to, yet, we are committed to providing students with a premier educational experience. We will begin our year focused on the Mindset that "We are Connected." We understand that not being in the same physical space with each other can pose feelings of disconnect, that is why this particular mindset is extremely important as we begin our year. Logging into scheduled class meetings and instructional times are great ways to increase feelings of connection. Encourage and support your student to log in and participate with their teacher and classmates! Catch up with friends to during a Google Meet to see how they are doing!  The school counselor will provide virtual lessons for students in Google classroom, as well as supporting teachers and students as needed.
